God and the Sub-woofers

God and the Sub-woofers

When I hear someone off to work with their car stereo blasting at 6:00am I think, “What a shame.”  Your entire day is filled with ringing phones, honking horns and yelling people, but there are few sacred moments in the early morning when the world is still and quiet.  Why not take advantage of those moments?

…in quietness and in trust shall be your strength. (Isaiah 30:15)

God spoke to his man Elijah in a low whisper (1 Kings 19:12).  When God called Moses he didn’t say a word until Moses had stopped to “step aside.” (Exodus 3:3)  God wants you seeking him by being intentional about getting away from the routine.

The creator of the universe is always speaking, but he rarely forces his voice on anyone.  When he does get loud it’s a frightening thing.  Just ask Paul, he ended up on the ground blind and shaking.  God spoke, but it wasn’t the most peaceful event. (Acts 26)

Consider getting quiet for a few moments every morning.  Turn off that radio and tune into silence – that’s where God plays his Top 20.
