Jewelry: The Ultimate Source of Happiness

Jewelry: The Ultimate Source of Happiness

I read a billboard advertisement for a jewelry company today that said, “The idea isn’t to make her sort of happy.”

I have to ask:  When was the last time you looked down at the ring on your finger and said, “Dang, this jewelry makes me so freakin’ happy!”  If you do, I apologize for my presumption.  But for most of us I am guessing that within a week of acquiring that piece of bling the thrill probably wore off.

Today you will be slapped in the face with over 5,000 advertisements trying to convince you that happiness is just around the corner.  All you need is __________.  I respond to this rhetoric with the following piece of mild, British profanity: BOLLOCKS!

The only place you are going to find true happiness is in healthy relationships. One in particular tops the list – your relationship with the Eternal One.  Your wedding ring won’t bring you happiness on the day you are signing the divorce papers (unless you pawn it, then it might for a few minutes).

We all know this, but as C.S Lewis once said, “People need to be reminded more often than they need to be instructed.”  So, here’s a friendly reminder.

Luke 12:15
“Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”
