A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Friday…

A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Friday…

Good Friday was bad before it was good.  It was a bad day when the created turned on their Creator and had him tortured and killed.  Gospel means good news, but good news isn’t good until you know there is bad news.

Nobody likes bad news.  I don’t like hearing that I’m a wicked son-of-a-gun.  I want to know that I am ok. But when I am honest with myself I have to admit I am a liar, a thief, a manipulator – not exactly a candidate for a home in an eternal neighborhood of perfection.  The selection committee would definitely deny my application.

That’s the bad news.  But the good news is, because of Jesus, I still get a place on the good side of the tracks.  All it takes is acknowledging my need for Him.  It’s simple and that’s good news.

Good Friday was a dark day.  But God brought light from darkness. It was on that day that God “called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,  that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise. (Luke 24:6-7)
