How to Survive a Lion Attack

How to Survive a Lion Attack

1. No one wakes up and says, “Hey, today I’m going to destroy my life!”  No, it’s more subtle than that.  It starts with a thought:

Man, I wish my wife would treat me with the respect my secretary does.

It’s only a little alcohol/marijuana/porn.  I have this under control.

No one will notice the money is missing; it’s a huge company.  They can afford it.

One little thought leads to justification, which leads to action, which leads to a pattern.  Bad patterns always end in destruction.

2. The devil is real.  He hates God.  He hates God’s children.  He wants to destroy you.  To level you.  To bury you.  To hack you to pieces.  To decimate your life.

He uses lies like the ones in italics above to do that.

Sun Tzu once said, “Know your enemy and know yourself and in a thousand battles you’ll face no harm.”

The Apostle Peter once said,  “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

Satan always uses deception and pleasure as his primary tactics.  He wants to eat you alive and leave your bloodied corpse to be picked apart by vultures on the open savannah.  He’ll hunt you for the rest of your life looking for a chance to attack.

The next time you are tempted to make that little compromise please, please, please remember the two points above.  I have to remind myself of them every day because pleasure screams louder than truth.  Don’t let the enemy take you out.
