It’s All Fun Until Someone Gets Hurt

It’s All Fun Until Someone Gets Hurt

I’ve been giving it a lot of thought lately and I’ve realized that there is simply no way to avoid hurting people in this life. As much as I’d like to think I mind my own business and try to step on as few toes as possible, I realize that I have unintentionally hurt people. People have unintentionally hurt me. Try as hard as you can not to, but if you don’t live in a cave – you will hurt people.

Since that’s the case I started thinking, Geez, how are we supposed to survive in this dangerous world of hurt?

I realized it comes down to one thing: Forgiveness.

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. (Colossians 3:12-13)

Rub shoulders with humanity for too long and you’ll get burned. Thank goodness God didn’t hold a grudge when humanity turned it’s back on him. He was proactive about restoring the relationship – even though we screwed it up.

God’s forgiveness opens the door to eternal life.  Our forgiveness opens the door to abundant life.

Forgiveness is the only way to make it in a world where getting hurt is inevitable.
