The Pot of Gold I Found

The Pot of Gold I Found

I have seen one trait that stands out among those who, in spite of problems, seem to walk a smoother path in this life:

Teachability.

I have two friends who have very similar histories. They are nearly the same age. They love God. They have great families that love God. They both work really hard.

One, well, pretty much anything he touches turns to gold.  The other is regularly chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He works incredibly hard but never seems to get anywhere. His big break is always just around the corner.

The only difference I can see between the two of them is that one is very teachable. The other isn’t. One seeks advice and follows it. The other seeks advice and does what he wants anyway, then wonders why things won’t get better.

I think teachability is a sign of humility. It’s realizing I don’t have it all figured out. My situation isn’t an exception to the rule. Those two realizations are a blow to my pride. But I have to remember that God embraces the humble. He also seems to make their path a little bit smoother.
