Getting Everything You Want From God

Getting Everything You Want From God

I read a cool blog the other day by a guy who is about my age. He’s got this list of “impossible” things that he wants to do in his lifetime. I checked out his list and realized that I had done more things on his list than he had. Things like scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef, Climb Kilimanjaro, be trilingual, etc.

I started thinking about the guy’s blog. I like how he is encouraging people to do stuff that is out of the ordinary. I agree with him, but I take a different angle on it.

God has allowed me to do some amazing stuff in my short life so far. But I chalk the cool stuff that’s happened up to this verse:

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Ps.37:4)

I hope it doesn’t sound like I’m bragging, but I really have found that the more I pursue God, the more he opens doors to do things I never thought possible. The secret is making God priority one, not your desire to do impossible things.

I really believe that God wants greater things for us than we want for ourselves. He delights in giving his kids the desires of their heart. But first I have to make sure I’m focused on delighting in him.
