Losers Have More Fun

Losers Have More Fun

This morning I woke up at 4:00am with a question rolling through my head.

How much am I willing to lose?

I don’t really like asking that question because no matter how I answer it I’m going to lose something. If I say I’m not willing to lose anything – I really lose.

You see, I’ve concluded that excitement in my spiritual life is directly proportional to how much I am willing to lose.

Jesus said it pretty bluntly:

If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. (Matt. 16:23-24)

The key to truly living this Christian life is a willingness to lose. To lose my pride. To lose control of my future. To lose my own desires.

That’s scary stuff. But I’ve got a few years under my belt now and have seen God do some pretty wild and exciting things in my life. God did it all, I just had to be willing to become a loser.
