Drop Out and Become a Hippie

Drop Out and Become a Hippie

I heard a guy say that if a certain candidate won the election he was going to leave the country and drop out of society.

Leaving for that reason seems a bit extreme to me, but I have to admit that at times dropping out of society sounds appealing. I could give up on life and be a hippie. I met lots of folks like that when we lived in Peru. They wore loose clothes and sat around playing guitar and smoking something or other.

As appealing as all that sounds, something deep inside tells me that would be wrong. There’s just too much at stake in this short life for me to just drop off the radar. There’s too much dark out there for the light to go hiding.

I have to believe I’m here for a purpose. The words of Mordecai ring through the centuries in my ears today.

For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise… from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?  -Esther 4:14
