My Sister is in Africa

My Sister is in Africa

I saw my Kenyan friend Irene at the grocery store last night. It reminded me of something that happened a while ago.

A friend of a friend, someone I’ve never met, was on a safari in Africa when her Land Rover flipped. She was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Nairobi. She was there alone.

My friend in Texas called me asking if I knew anyone that could help. I called Irene.

Less than an hour later a friend of Irene’s was at the girl’s bedside at the hospital in Nairobi. She got there so fast no had even been able to let the girl know someone was coming to check on her. She even came back a few days later to see how she was doing.

The body of Christ is a beautiful thing. Sure, we have our problems. But I have to say, most of the time I’m pretty proud of how Christians respond and care for our own.

I’m so glad I have a sister – in Africa. I’ll meet her one day and thank her for caring for a friend of a friend of mine who was all alone.

…so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Romans 12:5
