That Drink No One Saw You Take

That Drink No One Saw You Take

Yesterday I nearly fell off the wagon. I’ve been doing P90X for the past month. I’ve cut out all sodas. I’m sure there are abs under this belly of mine. Cutting out sugars and working out (hard) has helped me start to see them.

But yesterday was my birthday, so I almost drank a Dr. Pepper. But then I thought to myself. What’s the point of drinking one when it won’t help you accomplish your goals? It will actually set you back.

In that brief moment of clarity I realized I need to follow that line of logic more often when it comes to all those little decisions I make. The ones that don’t seem to matter in the long run, but actually do matter. Those decisions that aren’t going to kill me. People probably won’t even know that I made the decision – but I will. And whether it seems like it or not it will set me back from the spiritual goals I’ve set for myself.

I need to keep the goal in front of me and stay disciplined. It’s the stuff nobody sees that brings the results everybody wants.

I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. 1 Cor. 9:27
