Frosting Coated Joël Flakes

Frosting Coated Joël Flakes

Over the past six years of marriage my wife and I have moved seven times. Seven. Several of them have been major trans-continental moves.

We don’t move just because we get bored. Each time we’ve felt like God was directing us.

Because of the nature of our ministry we end up in all sorts of random places around the world.  When people see me at home they say things like, “Whoa! You are in the United States!”

It’s a strange statement. I live in the United States. But somehow people have this idea I’m always flitting around the world.

Enter a major fear of mine.

I’m terrified of looking flaky. I’m always worried people are going to look at me as some kind of hippie. Often times when I feel God leading me to do something or go somewhere my first thought is How am I going to explain this to people?

Maybe that’s ridiculous, but I have a sneaking suspicion I’m not the only one who has that problem. We are such people pleasers! I hate it, but I still do it.

I have to constantly remind myself that I have to obey what I feel God is telling me even if it makes me look like a flake.
