I Was Not Expecting This

Something confusing happened last month.

One of my goals for growing Summit Leaders has been to get word out about the ministry without paying for advertising. I’ve been trying different methods. Several years back I wrote a novel and I’ve been trying to get it published for two years now.

As a well-known agent told me once, “There’s no money in writing unless you sell a zillion copies, but there is influence.”

Influence. That’s what I was shooting for.

I thought 2013 was going to be the year it happened. The novel would get published and lots of people would read it and find out about Summit Leaders.

Well, lo and behold, in December a publisher offered to publish my book.

But it was a different book.

They wanted a little book called Vision Map that I wrote for the Summit Life program.

I spent two years writing the novel. I wrote Vision Map in about three weeks last May.

God is funny like that. He pretty much does whatever he wants. I believe it’s so he gets the glory and we stay flabbergasted at his awesomeness.

I’ve seen firsthand that God does extraordinary things when we give him something to bless. I wish I could predict exactly what he’s going to bless, but that’s not my job. We are just supposed to go after what he puts in our heart.

If you’ve got a dream burning in your heart – go after it. Give God something he can bless for his glory and your joy.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might… Ecc. 9:10

P.S. I say I wrote Vision Map in three weeks, but really it took me fifteen years. The book is about the process God has taken me through, bringing me to this point in ministry. It’s about taking small steps toward the dream God put in your heart. It’s super practical. It’ll be out in October. I’ll keep you posted as things progress.
