Fighting the Monday Morning Voices

Fighting the Monday Morning Voices

Yesterday I pounded out about 5,000 words on my computer. I took one last look over what I had written. A voice in my head said, Why would anyone want to read this? I closed my laptop, discouraged.

It’s 4:00am Monday morning. I’m on my fourth attempt at writing a blog for today. The voice keeps telling me, Why don’t you just not blog today. Seems you don’t really have much to say. I agree and shut the computer.

But then I reopen my computer and start writing this. Because I am determined to write, even when I’m not feeling it.

I push past the voices and the resistance, because I know that the most extraordinary people I know are people just like you and me who get up every morning and faithfully execute on what God has called them to do. On good days and bad. On days they feel qualified and on days they don’t.

Those people have figured out that it’s never been about their ability. It’s about God’s ability to take what they’ve done and make it something great.

And I want to be like those extraordinary people. So I get up every morning and faithfully do what I can do. Then I trust God to do what only he can do.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:3-4
