All This Heat is a Good Thing

All This Heat is a Good Thing

Two weeks ago I was in California shooting some promotional videos for Vision Map. We went to the Giant Sequoias forest.  In one of the videos I’m standing next to a 300-foot tall tree. I show a tiny Sequoia seed – so tiny I don’t think you can actually see it in my fingers on the video.

That tiny seed has the power to grow into one of the biggest trees on earth.

But here’s what’s interesting. The forest rangers said that those seeds will only start to grow after they’ve been exposed to intense heat. The kind that comes from forest fires. Like the raging, dangerous, destructive ones we see on TV.

I started thinking how easy it is to give up on a dream in the early stages. You start to get some heat from friends or haters and wonder if maybe starting isn’t such a good idea.

I wonder if, in most cases, that heat is a sign something is about to start growing. If you’ll stick to it and start – no matter how small the seed you are starting with may be.

There might be a mighty big thing in your heart – it’s just small right now. Let the fire get you ready to grow into something big.

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 1 Peter 4:12-13
