You’ll Have It When You Need It

When You Need It
My senior year of college I worked 40 hours per week, took 21 hours (7 classes) of school, cared for my grandpa who lived an hour away, played on the music team at church and managed to graduate college debt free, paying cash for the entire education.

Yesterday I was thinking, How on earth did I pull that off? I can’t even imagine doing that today.

Later Emily and I started discussing some big changes coming up. I started to feel nervous. How am I going to pull that off?

Then I started thinking about my friend Michael who just lost his wife. I’ve been amazed at his strength. How is he handling this so well? I’d fall apart.

It served as a reminder of something that I learned long ago, but tend to forget:

You’ll have the grace when you need it.

God delights in being our source of strength when we feel completely inadequate. He loves to remind us, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. (2 Cor. 12:9)

When you face the greatest challenge of your life, the exact grace and strength you need will be there – if you’ll lean into The Prince of Peace.

Rather than worry or get uptight about all the challenges that lie ahead or things that could go wrong, fight with all you’ve got to keep your peace. Life gets hard, but we can press ahead knowing that God’s grace is sufficient and we’ll have it when we need it.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
