Here’s What Happens When You Pray 100 Hours

A few years ago I felt like I was supposed to spend 100 hours in prayer. I didn’t really like the idea because I was horrible at praying. But I couldn’t get it off my mind. So I started.

I had to get really creative to pray that much. I sent out emails asking people if I could pray for anything for them. I got lots of responses. But I still ran out of things to pray for.

Then about 75 hours in, my life got turned upside down. Everything went haywire. I lost a job. I got stabbed in the back. We had to move out of our dream home.

It was hard to keep praying. But I managed to complete the self-imposed challenge.

As I look back I realize that all the amazing things that have happened in the past few years started around that time. We moved to Houston and God opened some amazing doors. I got a book published. Summit Leaders took off. And I created the Summit Life program.

I’m not sure whether the 100 hours activated the change or was just a way for God to prepare me for the change. I’m guessing it’s a combination of both.

James says:
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. (4:8)

Stuff happens when you get serious about your spiritual walk. It might be rough at first, but God also promise he rewards those who seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

I say all this to invite you into a challenge that starts this July 1.

It’s the Summit Life program I created to help people take their spiritual walk to the next level. It offers accountability and structure.

We read through six books on six themes: Getting Quiet, Getting Focused, Discipline and Habit Transformation, Overcoming Fear, Skillful Living and Vision Mapping. We also do our best to pray for 100 hours. We do monthly book discussions and I meet with you one-on-one throughout the program to talk through challenges and work with you to make a strategy for your family, finances, career, ministry and personal goals.

I’ve experienced first-hand what this kind of commitment can do for your life. It can literally change everything. It did for me. We’ve had college professors, attorneys, law enforcement officers, Navy ship captains, and pastors all go through the program. It was a game-changer for many of them.

If it sounds appealing it’s probably because God has something in your future that you need to get ready for. If you feel a life transition coming or are just tired of saying, “mañana” on spiritual discipline, then I encourage you: Take the challenge.

If you sign up before June 28 you’ll get a special price. If you want to do the program but simply can’t afford it let me know. There are some fixed costs I can’t get around, but I don’t want you to miss out because of lack of resources.

Come join me for this spiritual expedition, or try it on your own. I can guarantee it will be life changing!
