The Thing You Should Blog About

When I was about twelve years old I read a book about the end of the world. It gave me nightmares and shook me up for weeks.

That’s the first moment I remember fighting fear, but it’s a war I’ve been waging ever since. It comes and goes, sometimes it’s better than others. But it doesn’t take much to throw me into a downward spiral of worry and fear.

About one year ago I realized something. Whenever I’d write blogs about my struggles with fear people responded. They’d write and tell me how much they appreciated my honesty about my fears and how it inspired them to face their own fears.

I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I started to realize that sharing my battle with fear and what was working (and what wasn’t) was helping people.

I’ve started to realize something through this.

Your greatest area of weakness is often what God uses to help the most people – if you’ll be honest and vulnerable about it.

You don’t have to be fearless or flawless or the strongest or have it all figured out to help people. All you need to do is be honest about your struggles and share with people what you are learning.

Be courageous enough to be honest about your struggles and you might be amazed how many people you are able to encourage.

Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Cor. 12:9
