My Wife Just Doesn’t Understand

My Wife Just Doesn’t Understand

Recently my wife Emily came along with me to an event I spoke at. As I was getting my notes and presentation ready she sat down and started talking to people in the room.

I’ve spoken at this event lots of other times. But when I got up to speak this time something was different. The crowd seemed more at ease. There was a really good vibe in the room.

I’m convinced it’s because Emily was in the room. She has a unique ability to make people feel loved and accepted the instant they meet her. That gift changes things.

What’s interesting is, Emily doesn’t understand she has that. She tells me sometimes that she feels like she doesn’t have any special skills or talents. Everyone else sees her ability to make people feel instantly accepted, but it’s so natural to her she just can’t see it.

You have something in you that has the power to change things for the better. There’s a good chance you don’t see it. But it’s there. I promise. It may not be a power gift– one that everyone can see, but it’s still a gift that has power. You need to use it. We need you to use it.

The greatest gift you can give to God and the world is to just be you. Be brave. Be you.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10
